As part of their commitment to creating sustainable products and championing design and business models that are circular, fashion brand Ralph Lauren has introduced Polo Earth, a new refillable fragrance collection made from vegan and natural ingredients.
Made for all genders, the sustainably and responsibly-sourced ingredients found in the Polo Earth include bergamot heart, diva lavender, green mandarin, Turkish rose, sage heart, Haitian vetiver, and bourbon geranium.
The bottle is 20% post-consumer recycled glass, with a wood cap and paper labels. According to Ralph Lauren, the Polo Earth bottles are 30% lighter than their conventional bottle. For shipping, FSC-certified cartons made from 55% post-consumer recycled materials are used.
“We’re always looking for ways to push the boundaries of what is possible and launch innovative products for our consumers that not only feel fresh and timely but will also have a place in their closets for years to come,” says Ralph Lauren chief branding and innovation officer David Lauren. “POLO EARTH is the latest iteration of the revolutionary work we are doing within the sustainability arena and is only the start of where we can go when it comes to creating consciously designed fragrances.”
“It’s the first product where we pushed sustainability, and as much as we could, we focused on every element of the mix to make it as sustainable as possible,” adds Alex Choueiri, global president of Ralph Lauren Fragrances. “The fragrance industry has this habit of putting a lot of glass to make a product look luxurious and beautiful, but if we’re really serious about wanting to minimize the environmental impact, it should be as light as possible without breaking. The heat to create a bottle has a carbon footprint, and you want to minimize that.”
