Located in Osaka, Japan, not wonder store is a minimalistic shop and atelier for the apparel brand wonderland.
Designed by Reiichi Ikeda, the 333 sq ft (31 sq m) space features a combination of an industrial and calm aesthetic.
“When I visited the site for the first time, what made me feel as if it is outside even though there was the ceiling was that there wasn’t an entrance to define the border,” said Reiichi. “I made it a point to keep this strange and unique feeling, and tried making new interiors.”
“I thought that I would like to create a new space while not explicitly using the conversion work as a new space, but making good use of the elements in the present situation,” explained Reiichi.
“People image different spaces when opening doors. So I tried to shift the timing to enter inside by setting an entrance and “sliding the boundary line” where it is not originally imagined.”
“The area made by the shift of the border gets you a bit confused, and you will lose the idea where you are, in or out. As a result, you find yourself coming in the shop.”
Utilizing plywood and concrete bricks, the interior is simplistic and stripped to the bare essentials, allowing for a clearer focus on the products.
