Upcycled by Mu Miu, the sustainable fashion project launched by Prada in 2020, is collaborating with American denim brand Levi’s on a new collection.
Similar to Upcycled by Miu Miu’s inaugural collection where 80 of Miu Miu’s own vintage dresses were restored, the Upcycled by Miu Miu x Levi’s capsule collection features some of Levi’s most iconic styles refurbished and re-imagined with Miu Miu’s signature sparkle and shine.
This upcycled capsule collection is made up of three styles in total, Levi’s 501 men’s jeans and two trucker jackets from the ‘80s and ‘90s that were directly sourced from the Levi’s archives.
Each jacket and pair of jeans has been hand-embellished with crystals, pearls, diamanté embroideries, and leather patches bearing Art Deco-inspired motifs.
The men’s 501 jeans are available in full-length or as thigh-high cutoffs, while the jackets have been adorned with Miu Miu’s signature puff sleeves and oversized collars. Even Levi’s iconic backpatch has been given the Miu Miu treatment, turned baby pink and donning both brands’ logos.
Each piece in the collection is one-of-a-kind, so as you might expect, the collaboration is only available in limited quantities. In total, Upcycled by Miu Miu x Levi’s has 1,000 pieces available for sale worldwide.
The personalized nature of the pieces in the Upcycled by Miu Miu x Levi’s collaboration has resulted in a slightly higher price point, with prices ranging from $980 to $5,800 USD.
The Upcycled by Miu Miu x Levi’s capsule collection will make its debut in select stores this month. It will first launch in mid-may at Selfridges in London and Shanghai IAPM, which will then be followed by a wider release at 18 of Miu Miu’s boutiques and on their website on May 24, 2021. Between May 24 and June 6, it will also be sold at Los Angeles’ Dover Street Market.
