Up until recently, I had been using a cheap pair of partially broken earbuds that only had audio emitting from the right side. I was considering buying a new pair to replace the broken earbuds but thankfully, the good folks at AIAIAI offered to send me a pair of TMA-2 Studio Wireless+ headphones, an offer I couldn’t refuse.

Although I was unfamiliar with AIAIAI, the Danish audio design company has been around since 2006 and has made a name for itself within the premium audio gear category.

What sets AIAIAI apart from its competitors?

Unlike other expensive headphones that command a high price thanks to its notable branding, AIAIAI is more of a quiet luxury brand that delivers exceptional build and sound quality. I’ve used Beats by Dre when I was younger and recall the sound quality being decent. However, the build quality was rather poor and broke within a year.

AIAIAI’s TMA-2 Studio Wireless+ is unlike anything I’ve ever experienced. Let’s start with the audio quality. After using cheap earbuds for a few years, switching to the TMA-2 Studio Wireless+ was like an awakening. You could hear every bass, every detail. If I were to describe it as an analogy, it was like taking off your training wheels on a bicycle and finally enjoying freedom.

As for build quality, this is where the TMA-2 Studio Wireless+ shines the brightest. Considering the rise of the right-to-repair movement in recent years, AIAIAI designed the headphones from the ground up to be modular. If a part were to break, it could easily be swapped without requiring assistance from a technician.

Understanding the individual needs of their customers, the modularity of the TMA-2 Studio Wireless+ allows for a preferential selection of earpads, headbands, and even cables.

Speaking of the cables, my TMA-2 Studio Wireless+ came with the coiled black 1.5m thermo plastic cable. Usually, headphone cables are the first thing to break. However, the coiled black 1.5m thermo plastic cable is thick, absurdly long in a good way, and reminiscent of phone cables from the 90s.

What is the TMA-2 Studio Wireless+ made of?

Although AIAIAI could have just used cheap, conventional materials for its headphones to cut costs, they have instead opted to ingrain responsibility into the design philosophy. That’s why the TMA-2 Studio Wireless+ features an innovative bio-cellulose diaphragm, an organic compound made from bacterial cellulose.

Meanwhile, the earpads are made from either PU vegan leather, CO2-neutral Alcantara, or plastic-bottle-derived REPREVE.

Beyond the headphones

AIAIAI has recognized that sustainability extends beyond its products. For packaging, 100% recycled plastics and FSC-certified paper from responsible sources are utilized.

Review conclusion

Considering its exceptional build quality, stellar audio, and focus on sustainability, I rate AIAIAI’s TMA-2 Studio Wireless+ 4.6 stars out of 5. I highly recommend these headphones to those seeking to invest in a pair that can last a lifetime.
