A body scanner developed by Naked Labs is capable of rendering a 3D model of a body as well as provide metrics such as body fat percentage, show side-by-side comparisons of the user’s progress, and more.
“Giving people the opportunity to see themselves in an objective, visual way reveals the impact that diet, exercise, and other daily decisions has on the body,” said Naked Labs in press release. “Additionally, 3D scans show progress faster than anything else, keeping users motivated and accountable. Democratizing this information —previously available only in gyms and medical facilities —empowers the individual to take control of his or her own body story.”
The Naked body scanner is comprised of a WiFi/Bluetooth-enabled mirror and a rotating scale. Standing on the scale that is rotated 360 degrees in 15 seconds, depth sensors are utilized to render a 3D body model.
The 3D model alongside various body metrics including body fat percent, lean mass and fat mass, circumferences, side-by-side comparisons, and graphs of historical data can then be viewed via an app.
“Today, people are searching for evidence-based methods to track health and fitness that aren’t solely focused on weight.” said Naked Labs co-founder, and CEO Farhad Farahbakhshian. “We are excited to get Naked into people’s homes to give them better insight into exactly what’s going on in their body and help them work towards their goals.”
By utilizing a Naked body scanner to acquire data once only available in professional gyms and medical facilities, Naked Labs has stated that clothing tailored to the 10th of an inch, dynamic health care plans, and even playing the 3d body model in video games will become possible.
“We have been looking forward to this day for a long time,” said Farahbakhshian.
