LG Electronics has unveiled a rollable TV called LG SIGNATURE OLED TV R at this year’s Consumer Electronics Show (CES).

Described by LG as “revolutionary”, the 65-inch 4k OLED display can be hidden away by coiling itself into a sleek and minimalist base.

“A rollable OLED TV is a true game-changer, liberating users from the limitations of the wall and freeing them to curate their own personal space, which no longer needs to be reserved full time for TV viewing,” said LG.

The LG SIGNATURE OLED TV R is capable of offering three different viewing options of Full View, Line View and Zero View. Utilizing Dolby Vision and LG’s second-generation α (Alpha) 9 intelligent processor alongside a deep learning AL algorithm for optimal audio and video quality, Full View will deliver “a large-screen viewing experience revealing the full extent of the contrast, depth and realism”.

In Line View, the OLED display will be partially unrolled so that features that don’t require a full screen can be used such as Clock mode, Music mode, and more.

When the LG SIGNATURE OLED TV R is not in use, the Zero View can be selected to completely hide the OLED display in the base. The base itself has a built-in 4.2-channel, 100W front-firing Dolby Atmos audio system.

Users will be able to control LG SIGNATURE OLED TV R with voice commands thanks to LG’s ThinQ system. With built-in Google Assistant built and Amazon Alexa, it also comes with Apple Airplay 2 for device mirroring and media playback.
