Since the COVID-19 outbreak, educational institutions in many countries around the world have closed to limit the potential for virus transmission.

Although many students rejoiced that schools were being closed, they were quickly let down as educators brought the teaching online.

To help educators transition from classroom teaching to remote, Google in partnership with UNESCO’s Institute for Information Technologies in Education and the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization has launched Teach from Home. Google describes Teach from Home as being a “temporary hub of information and tools to help teachers during the coronavirus (COVID-19) crisis”.

“Every day, more and more educators are being asked to teach from home. But you’re not alone,” said Dean Stokes, adoption lead at Google for Education.

Applications and resources provided as part of Teach from Home include G Suite for Education with in-depth setup, operational and management instructions in addition to Learn@Home. Comprised of a created list of educational channels such as CrashCourse and Discovery Education, Learn@Home acts as a source for supplemental learning content in the form of YouTube videos.

Google says that Teach from Home is a work in progress and is continuously improving as they receive feedback from teachers and partners.
