Italian accessories brand Roberto di Stefano has gone vegan for their FW21 collection.
A departure from past collections, the FW21 line entirely consists of bags made out of Desserto, a breathable, durable and vegan alternative to leather. The innovative material is crafted from cacti plants that don’t use any kind of herbicides or pesticides in the cultivation process.
While the plant-based Desserto leather makes up the bulk of the bag collection, the Italian brand made sure that even the smaller details were eco-friendly. That is why they chose 100% ecru cotton to be used for the lining.
As with all Roberto di Stefano bags, the pieces from their FW21 collection were also made at home in Italy.
Roberto di Stefano’s first-ever vegan handbag collection will feature bold shapes, including rectangular silhouettes, buckets, and oversized tote styles. Many of the bags also feature a signature woven rope handle, which provides a stark contrast to the edgy, urban shapes of the bags. All bags are available in black or white and are adorned with Roberto di Stefano’s signature nickel-free hardware, including a metallic circle with the brand’s logo etched in.
There is no word yet as to when Roberto di Stefano’s vegan, sustainable, and cruelty-free FW21 collection will be released. However, consumers can view a preview of the collection on the brand’s website. Pieces will retail for between 116 and 190 euros.
