Conventional leather is known to be terrible for both the environment and the animals themselves. That’s why materials science company PANGAIA uses grape skin-derived leather for its sneakers.

Sourced from the Italian wine industry, discarded grape skins, stalks and seeds that would otherwise be discarded are repurposed into grape leather, reducing unnecessary waste and improving circularity.

In addition, PANGAIA’s grape leather sneakers feature soles made from 86% natural rubber created from industrial waste. Water-based glue is used to combine everything together, and organic cotton laces with 100% recycled plastic tips are the cherry on top.

Recently, PANGAIA released 2 new colorways for its grape leather sneakers: Baby blue and pistachio. Other available colourways include white, black, yellow, pink, and light brown.
