Commissioned by NHK Educational TV, the reel jump-rope created by Japanese design studio nendo is inspired by the children’s program Odomo TV.
nendo describes Odomo TV as a program where “experts from various fields come face-to-face with the ideas of ‘free-thinking’ children and try to make them happen.”
“Examples include children’s humming being turned into music by professional musicians, and actors improvising a play based on a nonsensical story and event created by children,” added nendo.
Made specifically for children, the reel jump-rope is designed to be compact, tangle-free and easy to handle.
Featuring non-slip and graspable properties, the square ring handles can be joined into a single object by firmly fitting the right and left handles together. Once joined together, the handles serve as a storage case for the wounded string.
To unwind the string, simply separate the handles and the string will fall out.
