Composed of a lampshade, side tables and a bench, Chinese Studio Bentu Design’s WRECK furniture collection highlights the levels of waste produced in the ceramics industry.

According to multiple sources, Chaozhou, the city known as the ceramics capital of China, supplies roughly 70 percent of daily-use ceramic commodities in the world. Although Chaozhou has enjoyed both job and economic growth over the past years, the ceramics industry has resulted in mountains of waste.

To create WRECK, Bentu Design collected ceramic shards from Chaozhou. From there, the shards with concrete were cast in a mould.
