Unsure of highly processed vegan meats that are rather unhealthy and made with god knows what? In that case, let us introduce you to Colorado-based company Meati. By using mushroom root as their main ingredient, Meati has created a line of vegan meat that is not only simple and clean but very delicious.

Because Meati grows its own mushroom root indoors in stainless steel tanks using only water, sugar, and nutrients, it’s not exposed to outdoor pollutants, pesticides, antibiotics, or growth hormones. Meati also claims that a single root can be grown to the equivalent of an entire cow’s meat in only four days, all while using a fraction of water and land.

Filled with fibre, vitamins and minerals, Meati’s vegan meat features zero saturated fat, zero trans fats, zero cholesterol, and zero sugar. What’s not to love?

However, the big question is, does it actually taste good? Allow Meati themselves to explain. “Lucky for us all, mushroom root is very similar to muscle tissue, making it easy for our culinary team to gently form our main ingredient into any shape, texture and flavor. Like a perfectly blank canvas, we marinate the cut of Meati with a handful of natural ingredients (spices, herbs, all that) to create the delicious protein and fiber-rich cut you know and love.” In short, they say it’s mouthwatering, has incredible texture, and the culinary possibilities are endless.

Currently, Meati offers three cuts: classic steak, crispy cutlet, and classic cutlet. Meati’s vegan meat is only available online in small baches at the beginning of each month. Their May drop sold out in seven minutes, so it’s safe to say that the people are hungry for some mushrooms.
