As beauty and fashion brands begin to welcome more eco-conscious approaches, JW Anderson is also moving towards a more sustainable future. The UK-based designer and his eponymous label have just released a new eco-friendly capsule collection titled “Made in Britain.”

The limited-edition range comprises causal and cool garments that each refer to Anderson’s British heritage. To reduce CO2 emissions, every single item in the collection was crafted in UK-based factories using surplus fabrics from past JW Anderson collections as a form of upcycling.

The collection’s ready-to-wear garments pay homage to some of the brand’s most iconic shapes and silhouettes. The results are shirts adorned with mismatched buttons and visible stitching; a cape that has been patchworked using different fabrics; and a panelled dress crafted together using various scraps of material.

The idea behind “Made in Britain” was to create something new, while remaining resourceful. The range was entirely put together during London’s COVID-19 lockdown, where designers and seamstresses communicated via digital platforms to coordinate everything.
