Disclaimer: This is not a paid review. However, the Allbirds Wool Runner 2 shoes were gifted as part of a PR package.

Back in 2014, former soccer player Tim Brown and engineer Joey Zwillinger founded Allbirds, a game-changing B Corp footwear brand. Focused on innovation and sustainability, they set out to create comfortable, stylish shoes with minimal environmental impact. The brand’s debut product, the Wool Runner, made from merino wool, marked the beginning of a journey that would redefine eco-friendly fashion.

Fast forward to the present day, and Allbirds has released the Wool Runner 2 to much fanfare. But this begs the question, what makes this new shoe different from its predecessor?

“We updated and upgraded our legendary silhouette to deliver even more foam underfoot (think ☁️), a redesigned heel and tongue for an improved fit and look (think 🤝), and re-engineered wool fibers for added durability (think 🐑),” says Allbirds.

Wool Runner 2 Review

After wearing the Allbirds Wool Runner 2 for a month, my thoughts are mixed. Although they are well-made, I found the shoes to be slim and a bit tight for my feet. Perhaps sizing up is recommended.

I also wasn’t the biggest fan of the red detailing and odd camo pattern holding the laces. Thanks to its lightweight build, wearing the Wool Runner 2 for extended periods was comfortable but my ankles and heel did start to hurt after a while. The soles are prone to catching dirt and hair as well. I rate these shoes 3 stars out of 5.
