Puzzleware

Created by knitwear designer Maija Nygren of Almaborealis, Puzzleware is a modular DIY knitwear kit inspired by early learning theories such as Loose parts play, Froebel and Montessori.

Made up of knitted lambswool puzzle pieces with a tool kit, Nygren says that Puzzleware asks questions about how we dress, all while inviting kids to participate in knitting their own garments.

Nygren, who started knitting and crocheting at the age of five with her Finnish grandmother, desired to champion knitwear as an alternative to fast fashion and its detrimental impacts on the environment. Noting the lack of interaction with our clothes when it comes to production, knitting also offers the opportunity for people to become more mindful of consumerism and how they care for their clothing.
