There’s nothing more appealing than being a green, sustainable brand these days. As more labels continue to look for innovative techniques to be less wasteful, along with new ways to produce cleaner and eco-friendly products, South Korean beauty brand innisfree has just introduced a new paper edition of its Intensive Hydrating Serum.
This marks the first-ever paper edition bottle for innisfree’s highly-admired range of products and additionally commemorates the brand’s twentieth anniversary and dedication to protecting the environment. Since its launch in 2000, the K-beauty brand has been devoted to creating a greener, eco-friendly range by focusing its efforts on key initiatives such as recycling, reusing and composting materials, and developing sustainable packaging. The latter is especially incorporated in innisfree’s latest limited-edition products.
First up to receive this new sustainable packaging is innisfree’s global, best-selling Green Tea Intensive Hydrating Serum. This innovative, paper edition bottle is composed of a unique outer paper mould paired with an inner plastic container. The new paper packaging, made from unbleached mixed scrap paper, is a big step in innisfree’s sustainability goals as it uses 51.8% less plastic than the serum’s original packaging. Even the pump and cap are made from 10% recycled polypropylene. When the paper bottle is empty, consumers can simply remove the label, pull apart the two halves, and recycle them separately.
Although the exterior of this fan-favourite product has been given a makeover, the lightweight and nourishing serum still contains the same skin-loving formula. The hydrating serum’s most recent formulation contains USDA organic Beauty Green Tea, a mix of green tea extract and green tea seed oil. This ingredient is harvested especially for the skin and contains 16 kinds of moisturizing amino acids and antioxidants. These key ingredients help to maintain the skin’s delicate pH balance, while also helping the skin to retain moisture levels longer for a soft and glowing complexion.
For a bit of background, the innisfree team spent over 10 years researching and cultivating a special green tea breed that provides the most optimal level of moisture for the skin to use in its Beauty Green Tea Intensive Hydrating Serum. Chosen out of 3,301 green tea varieties, the beauty brand still grows this specific breed organically on its green tea farm on Jeju Island, located off the coast of South Korea.
The jumbo-sized Limited Edition Green Tea Seed Serum Paper Bottle is available now for $39 USD (approximately $52 CAD) via innisfree’s online store.
To commemorate the launch of the new, paper-packaged serum (and to mark the brand’s commitment to sustainability and reforestation efforts), innisfree will be planting 5,000 trees in partnership with the Arbor Day Foundation.
innisfree’s ultimate goal is to reduce its plastic usage and to increase the recyclability of all its product packaging by 2030.
