H&M has yet another collaboration underway, this time with British womenswear brand The Vampire’s Wife.
Founded in 2016, The Vampire’s Wife is known for its feminine silhouettes, ruffled dresses, statement shoulders, and vintage designs. All of these elements are evident in the collaboration, which is largely made up of mini and maxi dresses, as well as an array of unique accessories and jewellery pieces.
The Vampire’s Wife x H&M is dark, glamorous, and a little bit sinister. According to H&M, the collection is a nod to America with a “dark European soul.” The themes of the collection are womanhood, vulnerability, strength, intimacy, and the unknown.
“For me, I feel that my strength essentially is my vulnerability, and they way that is made manifest is through intimacy,” says Susie Cave, founder and creative director of The Vampire’s Wife. “As a woman, I feel that these things are essential. Our vulnerability is the doorway to a much richer and more interesting life. The ‘unknown’ is, of course, the mysterious thing that we all reach toward, and perhaps never obtain—but still we reach! This is the thing—we must never stop reaching!”
Featuring everything from shimmering frocks perfect for New Year’s Eve to hyper-feminine mini dresses adorned with lace, puff sleeves and bows, nearly every piece in the collection is black, and perhaps even just a little bit vampy, which makes this the perfect collaboration to launch right before Halloween.
Every single dress in the collection is made with recycled polyester or recycled nylon. The eco-friendly aspect of the collection was a must for Cave, who is constantly striving to make her designs as circular and environmentally responsible as possible.
Accessories found in the collection include a lacey cape and elegant fingerless gloves to statement rings, earrings, and necklaces you won’t want to take off. (Many of the jewellery pieces are partly made out of sustainably sourced materials.) The jewellery is primarily gold in hue with lots of red, white, and black gems, some in the shape of hearts, and others in the shape of eyes.
The Vampire’s Wife x H&M collection is set to become available on October 22, 2020
