Times are challenging. Across the globe, we’ve been advised to self-isolate. To stay home. To cancel travel plans.
Now more than ever, it’s imperative to keep our mental health in check. To utilize this time to press pause, self-reflect, meditate, read, write, and work with what we have. Though for some, especially those with existing mental illnesses, it’s not always that easy.
Many companies are stepping up in an effort to make these unprecedented times tolerable, including the meditation app, Headspace.
In a Twitter thread, Headspace co-founder Richard Pierson announced the app’s newest commitments to “help weather the storm around the world”, starting with a collection called “Weathering the storm” that offers free meditation, sleep and movement exercises for everyone.
“It’s our small way of helping you find some space and kindness for yourself and those around you,” said Headspace.
Headspace is also offering free access to Headspace Plus for all US healthcare professionals working in public health settings; a gesture acknowledging the well-being of those who are tackling this crisis head-on.
When it comes to workplaces, Headspace believes “Happier people” means a “Healthier Business”. In accordance with this mandate, the app has unlocked #HeadspaceforWork, which offers meditation resources for teams that are continuing to function during this period.
With school closures, canceled play dates and shifts in routine, it can be difficult for young children to grasp the ubiquitous chaos taking place. As such, Pierson announced that the app will now offer resources to educators, school administrators and staff in the US, UK, Canada and Australia so that they can explain to the children what’s going on.
