In the heart of Trinity Bellwoods, a culinary gem has emerged that is making waves in the Toronto dining scene. Gia, the brainchild of restaurateur Jennifer Coburn and culinary director Matthew Ravenscroft, has quickly gained recognition for its innovative plant-forward approach to dining.

Thanks to its popularity, Gia has earned its place among the first Canadian restaurants to be recognized and recommended by the prestigious Michelin Guide.

A Meatless Surprise

What sets Gia apart is its ability to craft dishes that are entirely meatless but could easily fool diners into thinking otherwise. For instance, the panko-crusted Impossible meat & textured soy protein meatballs are a revelation – a savoury and crispy exterior giving way to a delectably meaty texture within.

Gia’s arancini, on the other hand, is a must-try appetizer. The addition of Ontario peas imparts a fresh and lively element to the dish, while the plant-based mozzarella introduces a creamy richness that harmonizes perfectly with the carnaroli rice. Each arancini ball is a burst of plant-based goodness, delivering an enticing fusion of ingredients

Pasta Excellence

The true star of Gia’s menu is its house-made pasta. Vegetarians can indulge in options like Porcini Agnolotti, Gnocchi Pomodoro, and Squash Ravioli, each carefully crafted to please the palate. Gia says most vegetarian options can be made vegan upon request. As long as you say please.

Chic Ambiance

Beyond the outstanding menu, Gia’s ambiance adds to the overall dining experience. The restaurant features high ceilings, exposed white brick, and herringbone floors, creating a stylish and comfortable atmosphere. The dining room, which seats 20 people, retains a cozy feel, making it an excellent choice for a night out with friends or a special date night.
