To celebrate Earth Day, G-Star Raw joined forces with creative agency The Visionary Lab to launch “Denim for Earth,” a photographic exhibition on sustainable denim showcasing eight up-and-coming designers.
The eight designers whose work is featured in the exhibition are Karim Adduchi, Charlotte Bakkenes, Yuki Isshiki, Yulia Ivanova, Bagua Jody, Majid Karrouch, Ferry Schiffelers, and Tess van Zalinge.
Each of the designers is known for their ability to create denim pieces using eco-friendly processes. For the exhibition, they were asked to do just that, but on a grander scale.
Designers were given the task of creating couture, art-like creations out of discarded denim pieces and recyclable G-Star Raw fabrics. Each design was meant to take inspiration from The Visionary Lab’s circular innovations.
Standout pieces from the Denim for Earth exhibition range from Schiffelers’ strapless mini dress made using the ancient Japanese Sakiori rag weaving method to Isshiki’s fascinator headpiece made out of recycled denim scraps.
