A new clean and lab-grown food brand called Fiction Foods has announced that their flagship product “Performance Scramble” is set to launch in the third quarter of 2022.
Made from vegan ingredients, Fiction Foods says that their scrambled egg is superior to that of a real chicken egg and the production is expected to be at a fraction of the environmental cost.
Founded by Brendan Brazier, who is also the co-founder of plant-based protein company Vega, Fiction Foods’ mission is to offer a sustainable and ethical alternative to factory animal farming.
“Creating a nutrient-dense, versatile liquid that can be used in place of a chicken egg has long been an objective of mine,” says Brazier. “We are working hard so that Performance Scramble will be used to bolster mental and physical performance far beyond that of a chicken egg’s nutritional capability, while leaving the chicken alone. It’s not a fake egg, but a whole new culinary experience, that is made from a signal-cell organism called euglena that contains animal-like and high-quality protein, but without the animal.”
