When buying fragrances, do you ever think about what kind of ingredients were used to create the formula? According to EcoWatch, most perfumes found on store shelves are designed using synthetic ingredients due to being typically cheaper than natural ingredients. With more than 95% of the chemicals in synthetic fragrances being derived from petrochemicals, synthetic fragrances are more prone to trigger allergies, asthma or headaches, and even cancer.
That’s why EAUSO VERT was founded with the aim to offer customers a vegan and cruelty-free fragrance made from biodegradable, renewable raw and upcycled materials.
Leading EAUSO VERT are BIPOC women co-founders Tanya Gonzalez and Faye Harris, who have been building the fragrance brand for the past 4 years. After meeting as colleagues at Estée Lauder, a makeup company, the duo connected with their passion for clean beauty and sought “greater transparency, greater impact and an overall need for inclusivity within luxury.”
The brand, which achieved its Kickstarter fundraising goal in 10 days, will launch with five fragrances: Purple Noon, Vanilla Embers, Sintra, Joga, and Boozy Patchouli. Each fragrance is said to “awaken different emotions of nostalgia, joy, harmony and warmth.”
In regards to packaging, the fragrance bottle is recycled glass with a wood and cork cap. Vegetable ink and biodegradable base labels are also utilized.
