Californian influencer and blogger Julie Sariñana has just launched her very own brand called Color Dept..

Specializing in plant-based nail polish, which until recent years was a major gap in the beauty industry, Color Dept. is a nod to Sariñana’s past job at a nail salon.

“My experience working at the nail salon has stayed with me ‘till this day and has inspired me to live a life of self-care first, to always have ‘me’ time and create this fun, healthy nail care brand for you in hopes you will always make time for yourself!” writes Sariñana on Instagram.

Color Dept.’s line consists of 100% vegan and cruelty-free certified nail polish and aims to encourage the wearer to indulge in fashion-forward colours (self-care without compromise is their motto).

Instead of the usual solvents, plasticizers, and nitrocellulose used in nail polish, Color Dept. opted for clean and healthy ingredients, to create one of the most eco-friendly nail lacquers on the market today. Specifically, each polish was made using natural ingredients, such as wheat, potato, corn, and manioc.

New collections will drop four times per year, with each release taking inspiration from the season’s most trend-setting hues.

The first collection, Dept. 1, is an ode to summer, featuring Strawberry Jam (bright pink), Grape Soda (neon purple), Morning Squeeze (neon orange), Kiwi Juice (lime green), and Avo Guac (dark green), to name a few. The inaugural collection consists of nine products in total, 7 nail polishes, a plant-based, high-shine, extra-long wearing topcoat, and an exclusive bundle.
