Rather than using conventional rubber for their sneaker soles, footwear brand Cole Haan has instead opted to use a flower that most would consider as a weed.

Marking the company’s very first entry into sustainable footwear, the Generation ZERØGRAND II sneaker features a patent-pending sole called FlowerFoam that is derived from dandelions.

Consisting of 25% natural dandelion rubber, the FlowerFoam sole is said to provide “all the lightweight cushioning to keeping you going and growing all day, every day.”
In addition, the upper is constructed from a vegan microfiber suede made with 21% recycled content and reconstructed felt fabric made with 85% recycled plastic bottles. Tying it all together are 100% recycled rPET laces.
Priced at $173 CAD ($130 USD), the Generation ZERØGRAND II comes in four colours; birch white, jet black-pine nut, moonlit ocean-navy ink, and multi colour-white.
