As the fashion world continues to push towards greater sustainability and less environmental impact, Italian fashion house Bottega Veneta has repurposed a range of its most popular bag models for its Pre-Fall 2020 collection.
Bottega Veneta’s hyper-successful series of Pouch bags, including The Pouch, The Shoulder Pouch, and the BV Twist, forgo their usual luxurious leather construction for a corrugated cardboard “kraft” paper outfit. Made of 100% recycled paper, the bags take on a crumpled effect and stay true to the same brown hue of the modest item.
To ensure Bottega Veneta’s “it bags” remain durable, the 100% recycled corrugated cardboard, which is also certified by the Forest Stewardship Council, is covered with an aliphatic polyurethane film and a microfiber fabric. This results in the bags feeling soft and lightweight, as well as being breathable and, most importantly, waterproof.
These new Kraft bag creations will be part of Bottega Veneta’s upcoming Pre-Fall 2020 collection, lead by creative designer Daniel Lee (formerly at Phoebe Philo’s Céline). Along with the “Kraft paper” bags, Bottega Veneta’s Pre-Fall 2020 Collection includes a range of must-have separates, accessories, and shoes. As per Lee’s notes on the collection, Pre-Fall 2020 “celebrates Bottega’s heritage made relevant for today” with a collection defined by “attitude, shape, and colour”.
Bottega Veneta’s Kraft paper bags, along with the full Pre-Fall 2020 range, are set to launch at all Bottega Veneta boutique locations in late June.
