Said to be the embodiment of a vision turning into reality, the newly unveiled BMW iX is a culmination of the German automobile company’s development in electrification.
Powered by BMW’s eDrive technology, iX’s acceleration rate is 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in just five seconds. Only requiring 21 kWh per 100 km (62 mi), the iX is capable of a max range of roughly 482 km (300 mi).
With DC fast charging at up to 200 kW, the battery of iX can be charged from 10 to 80 percent in around 40 minutes. Not to mention, iX’s batteries are highly recyclable and the manufacturing of the batteries itself was powered exclusively by clean, renewable energy.
The development and unveiling of iX represent BMW’s commitment to The Paris Agreement that aims to combat the ever-growing issue of global warming. By investing and improving electric mobility, BMW is seeking to do its part to realize an attainable future where oil is no longer required and a thing of the past.
Although the iX is still technically in its series development phase, BMW says that the EV is scheduled to market launch sometime at the end of 2021.
