A concept of an autonomous and all-electric vehicle called AI:ME has been unveiled by Audi at Auto Shanghai 2019.

Designed to be compact and versatile with the ability to drive autonomously at level 4, AI:ME is ideal for urban spaces. Utilizing artificial intelligence, machine learning, vehicle intelligence and interaction intelligence to provide assistance to drivers, the name AI:ME is a reflection on the bond between AI and the vehicle operator.

Made to be driven predominantly within the speed range of 20 and 70 km/h (12.4 and 43.5 mph) as high speeds in urban environments are unnecessary, AI:ME is powered by a battery unit with a storage capacity of 65-kilowatt-hours and a permanently excited synchronous motor of 125 kW (170 metric hp).

Putting emphasis on a minimal interface with a retractable steering wheel and a three-dimensional OLED monitor, AI:ME utilizes materials such as wood and Corian to create an interior that is cozy, elegant and luxurious.

With the sunroof, windshield and windows featuring a large surface area, the entry of heat and light can be insulated using electro-chromatic control.

In regards to comfortability, the seats are inspired by classic lounge chairs that feature wide cushions. Fitted with a high-quality audio system coupled with active noise control technology, any unwanted external noises can be suppressed. There are also magnetic cupholders and onboard VR goggles that passengers can use for the infotainment system.
