In 2016 designer and Central St Martins graduate Naza Yousefi launched her eponymous label Yuzefi, which, in an impressively short time, became a cult sensation. Yuzefi’s eco-friendly, meticulously crafted, and geometrically pleasing arm candy has helped to mark the label as a one to watch, considerably easy seeing as the bags can be seen everywhere from the pages of Vogue to everyone’s Instagram feeds.
For its Pre-Fall 2020 season, the London-based brand has debuted a new range of statement vegan handbags ranging from hand-woven baskets, mini purses, and much more. Each bag is designed by Yousefi herself and is inspired by her passion for interior design and her experience in ready-to-wear. The result is effortlessly chic and stylish bags that are also friendly on the wallet and on the environment.
Adding to Yuzefi’s roster of popular silhouettes, such as the Dolores, Yousefi has created new silhouettes for Pre-Fall 2020, which includes the Dinner Roll and the Baton. Just like its inherited name, the Dinner Roll features an elongated roll-esque shape, whilst the Baton takes on a slightly larger shape and build to hold daily must-have essentials. The seasonal range also comprises of the summer-friendly Woven Basket, a perfect carryall for the beach that is both hand-crafted and vegan.
Each bag is constructed from smooth vegan leather sourced from Italy and comes dressed in subdued tones of stark black, fresh white, creamy beige, and earthy browns, while bolder hues such as lush green and metallic gold are also on offer. The handbags are then elevated with oversized gold hardware, silver chains, luxurious braided top handles, and decorative fringing.
The sustainable and vegan label works with one of Italy’s most reputable tanneries located in the North of the country, which qualifies for the Gold Leather Working Group standard. This means they have received the highest sustainability ratings in all aspects of their leather production. Additionally, Yuzefi uses vegan suede to line its bags, (also sourced from a reputable supplier), and only uses materials that are by-products. Lastly, all packaging is made from recycled and natural materials.
On her works Yousefi explains, “I try to make something unique that I feel passionate and strongly about, with the hope that it will speak to like-minded people in search of something new.”
