Co-founded in 1997 by Andrew Rosen and Elie Tahari, Theory began its story in New York City with a pair of pants that “changed the way American women dress”.
The design philosophy of Theory’s garments is built upon the foundations of empowerment, sustainability and innovation. Made from materials such as Australian merino wool, biodegradable cupro, organic linen and more, the garments are tailored to fit for exceptional comfort and style.
Theory offers the Good Wool collection for men and women. Sourcing wool straight from the Beaufront Farm in Tasmania, Australia, the sheep are free-roaming and raised ethically by fourth-generation sheep runners Julian and Annabel von Bibra who practice environmental stewardship in partnership with Bush Heritage and Tasmanian Land Conservancy. The wool garments are made by Tollegno 1900 mill.
The Good Linen collection for women is also offered by Theory. The producers of the organic linen that Theory sources from meet a variety of standards and possess certifications such as Oeko-Tex Standard 100, Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS), and more. The linen garments are made by Italian mill Marini Industrie.
As part of a commitment to reduce waste, gently used Theory clothing is collected at select stores on behalf of a non-profit organization called Year Up.
