In an ever-changing world where global brands dominate the market, there are those who understand the importance of preserving local traditions, uplifting vulnerable communities, and telling stories that matter.

THEMOIRè, a brand with a vision that extends beyond the fashion industry, has launched its latest endeavour: TOGETHER by THEMOIRè // CHAPTER 03 COLOMBIA. This special capsule collection marks a significant step forward in their mission to create meaningful change through fashion and storytelling.

The heart of this project beats in Sandonà, a town nestled in the Nariño region of southern Colombia. Here, tradition runs deep, and the art of weaving is a cherished part of daily life, passed down through generations by the tejedoras, the women artisans who safeguard ancient processing practices.

THEMOIRè, led by Founders and Creative Directors Francesca Monaco and Salar Bicheranloo, recognized the beauty and cultural significance of this heritage, and thus began the journey of collaboration and empowerment.

For TOGETHER by THEMOIRè // CHAPTER 03 COLOMBIA, THEMOIRè partnered with a community of two hundred women who have dedicated their lives to weaving natural Iraca fibres. Derived from the Iraca palm species, these biodegradable and eco-friendly fibres were meticulously handled by local artisans to create handcrafted products known for their exceptional design and quality.

What sets this collection apart is the integration of two distinct traditional weaving techniques. The first involves a fine degradé weave, achieved through the hand-dyeing of Iraca fibres. The result is a delicate gradient of colours that evoke the rich Colombian landscape. The second technique employs a full-color, broadweave approach, producing vibrant and bold patterns that capture the essence of Colombian cities.

The collection showcases a range of designs, including the iconic Tia, Bios, and Kobo, as well as newcomers like Flor and Phoebe, offering soft, contemporary hand and shoulder bags. Each piece is a testament to the meticulous craftsmanship of the tejedoras, with every item being 100% hand-woven.

Beyond fashion, TOGETHER by THEMOIRè projects have always sought to support local communities. In a beautiful display of social responsibility, the brand has committed to donating 100% of the profits from this capsule collection to benefit the children of tejedoras who face disabilities and special needs. These funds will provide vital support, offering these young individuals the chance to lead their lives in the best possible conditions.

But TOGETHER by THEMOIRè goes beyond fashion and philanthropy; it’s about storytelling. The brand recognizes the power of images to convey cultural richness and the strength of communities. In their creation of photographic and video materials, THEMOIRè ensures the involvement of local figures.

The shots and documentary were masterfully captured by Jorge Panchoaga, a Colombian photographer renowned for his commitment to environmental and community causes. Through his lens, the collection and the stories behind it come to life, celebrating the artisans, their heritage, and their connection to the land.
