Designed by Berlin-based studio Gonzalez Hasse AAS as a fusion of fashion, art and design, TEM-PLATE’s flagship store doubles as an event and exhibition space.
Located in Lisbon, Portugal, the store resides in a renovated industrial building from the ’70s. The store is described by TEM-PLATE as being intended for “exploration and inspiration rooted in the idea of connecting the future of retail with art and medias.”
“Our vision is to create visually tantalizing universes,” said TEM-PLATE. “Luxury arts and crafts are mixed elegantly with the urban street in an artistic expression using art installations and moving interiors. Our vision is to revolutionize the way people shop for high-end and avant-garde contemporary fashion through unique and carefully selected pieces and stories shown in visually tantalizing universes.”
To add contrast, there is a curtain wall at the back of the store with a grey polycarbonate that acts as a separator for the back of house.
The expansive interior is defined by chipboard panels that are covered with a variety of materials. “The pieces are monumental, resembling fragments of architecture. Using extremely basic forms the pieces build up the stores’ radicality and are designed for the needs of each department – playing with what is visible or purposefully obstructed, forcing visitors to explore the space,” explained Gonzalez Hasse AAS.
