Presented at the 2020 Stockholm Furniture Fair, the Natural Bond installation created by flooring company Tarkett in collaboration with Note Design Studio is made of materials that are recycled and recyclable.

Composed of various shapes that are fastened together with lashing straps, the installation is described by Note Design Studio and Tarkett as being temporary objects that visualize a future that is under construction.

“The focus was on exploring different ways to use the material and the visual possibilities. But this year we wanted the form of the installation to follow the function, to actually show how the material works from a sustainability perspective,” explained Daniel Heckscher, interior architect at Note Design Studio.

“The straps, in a way, communicate the idea behind recycling that if you can bond something together, you can also de-bond it again,” added Heckscher.

The installation is intended to create a discussion around sustainability and how a circular economy can be achieved. Once the Stockholm Furniture Fair concludes, the installation’s materials will be washed, grounded and re-bonded by Tarkett to be turned into new flooring.
