Although relatively unknown in the western world, Mumbai-based company Tata Motors has quickly grown since its founding in 1945 to become one of the leading Indian automakers with revenue in the tens of billions.
Tata Motors says that to achieve success in the future, six key points must be met. The six key points are; modular architecture, complexity reduction in manufacturing, connected & autonomous vehicles, clean drivelines, shared mobility, and low total cost of ownership.
As such, Tata Motors recently unveiled an electric vehicle concept called AVINYA, which translates to ‘Innovation’.
Based on the Indian automaker’s Pure EV GEN 3 Architecture, the AVINYA Concept features a battery capable of charging for a 500 km range in under 30 minutes.
“While making the AVINYA Concept a reality, the central idea was to offer a mobility solution like no other – a state of the art software on wheels that is well designed, sustainable and reduces the planet’s carbon footprint,” says Mr. N Chandrasekaran, chairman at Tata Motors and investment holding company Tata Sons.
“Green Mobility is at the nucleus of TPEM, and the AVINYA Concept is the perfect reflection of what the company stands for – a creation that will not only accelerate the adoption of EVs but also lead this movement. Furthermore, at the Tata group, we are uniquely positioned to bring all the expertise that is necessary to build these mobility solutions and we are confident that in years to come we will make a larger and sustainable impact not only in India but globally as well.”
