Plastic waste from single-use cups is a major pollution crisis, and stepping up to confront this challenging issue is SOFI Products. This Florida-based paper product company aims to tackle the pervasive issue of plastic waste by offering a sustainable alternative to disposable coffee cups. The concept is simple yet ingenious: a foldable paper cup that eliminates the need for plastic lids, promising a cleaner and greener future.

Conventional disposable coffee cups, often adorned with plastic lids, contribute significantly to the global plastic waste crisis. In the United States alone, it’s estimated that 130 billion disposable cups are thrown away each year. Moreover, these cups are typically lined with plastic or wax to prevent leakage, making them non-recyclable and further exacerbating the problem.

SOFI’s cups offer a refreshing departure from this unsustainable model. By integrating its lid into the cup itself through a folding design, SOFI eliminates the need for separate plastic lids altogether. This not only reduces plastic waste but also simplifies the recycling process, as SOFI’s all-paper construction makes it fully recyclable in most municipal recycling programs. Thankfully, both a hot and cold model is offered, making the SOFI cup usable for any drink of choice.

Brandon and Jordan Leeds, the brother co-founders of SOFi, have a shared passion for life and beverages since childhood, fostering a deep-seated love for sustainability and hospitality. Their upbringing, influenced by their chef mother and Miami Beach’s vibrant culture, inspired them to create eco-friendly solutions for the hospitality industry. Motivated by their love for surfing and dismayed by ocean plastic pollution, they founded SOFi to offer innovative and sustainable paper products.

In addition to paper cups, SOFI also offers paper straws that according to reviews, don’t suck like the rest.
