LAYER has partnered with Chinese electric vehicle company NIO to design a prototype of an electric scooter called Pal.
Designed to offer a flexible and convenient travelling experience, Pal is a modular personal transport system that utilizes NIO’s AI system called NOMI alongside machine learning to map out frequent travel routes and autonomously take the user to their destination.
Using Bluetooth to connect Pal with NOMI, voice commands are uttered into a Bluetooth earpiece to enable autonomous travel. With an app, the battery life of Pal can be checked and ideal routes can also be determined.
Pal is powered by an electric battery that is recharged either at home or in the trunk of NIO vehicles using a battery charging port. The battery can be swapped when needed for an extended range.
Made from graphene-coated carbon fibre, Pal is lightweight and durable. An individual motor is fitted onto each of its four wheels.
“At LAYER, we believe that the future is autonomous and sustainable, and it is important to create products that offer more convenience without inconveniencing the planet,” said LAYER founder Benjamin Hubert.
