Tech giant Samsung recently launched their most advanced earphones yet, the Galaxy Buds Pro. As one would expect from the industry leader, these wireless earbuds feature cutting-edge audio technology, including Active Noise Cancellation, water resistance, superior sound quality, and flawless connectivity. However, what consumers likely didn’t expect is that the Galaxy Buds Pro is also eco-friendly.

That’s right, Samsung’s latest product launch was specifically designed to reduce waste. One way they did this was by building the earbuds, along with their charging case, out of 20% recycled plastic.

More specifically, the earbuds and case are composed of post-consumer materials. Given that post-consumer plastic is made out of plastic that has been used and then recycled, rather than the virgin, single-use plastic used in so many products, the cost to the environment is significantly reduced. Samsung stated that the post-consumer plastic they worked with was not only recycled but also durable, to ensure the earbuds can last as long as possible.

The sustainable design elements of the Samsung Galaxy Buds Pro are just one example of the company’s commitment to the environment. They have been outspoken about their intention to meet the United Nations Development Programme’s 2030 Sustainable Development Goals. And in recent years, they have made headlines for other eco-friendly initiatives they’ve adopted such as developing and subsequently expanding their Galaxy Upcycling Program and launching the Samsung Global Goals mobile application. With the launch of the Galaxy Buds Pro, Samsung has again reiterated that they have every intention of incorporating sustainable elements and processes into the development of all future products.

Samsung’s sustainable Galaxy Buds Pro is available now on their website, where they retail for $264.99 CAD. They come in three colourways: Phantom Black, Phantom Silver, and Phantom Violet.
