In honour of Earth Day 2020, fashion brand Ralph Lauren has expanded its Earth Polo collection.
Ralph Lauren initially launched the Earth Polo in 2019, the brand’s first step towards sustainability. However, last year, it was just one single men’s shirt that was created, whereas, for 2020, they created an entire collection made up of 19 different Earth Polo styles.
Like the original that debuted on Earth Day 2019, every single Earth Polo shirt is made entirely out of recycled plastic bottles using a waterless process. More specifically, each Earth Polo is made using an average of 12 recycled plastic bottles.
The official description reads as follows, “Designed with Mother Nature in mind, The Earth Polo is crafted from an innovative fabric made entirely from plastic bottles and dyed using a waterless process.”
The Earth Polo collection has styles for men, women, boys, and girls. Polos come in a “spectrum of hues” that were dyed via a completely waterless application.
Many different colours are available, such as Stuart Green, Pacific Royal blue, RL 2000 Red, Pure White, Pastel Violet, and Hint of Pink. There are even printed Earth Polos this year, including a blue and white floral print for women and the Blue Elephant Print for men.
Like with all Ralph Lauren polos, the Earth Polo also features the brand’s signature logo in the top right corner.
The expanded Earth Polo collection is part of Ralph Lauren’s commitment to sustainability and the environment. They have pledged to recycle 170 million plastic bottles across all of their products by 2025 (thereby preventing them from being dumped into landfills or the ocean), and to reduce water usage by 20 percent across their entire business by 2025.
In addition to the products themselves, Ralph Lauren is also offering shoppers a reduced packaging option at checkout. This option ensures your order minimizes waste, by not including paper or plastic inserts, hangers or garment bags, Ralph Lauren promotional materials, or paper invoices, return forms, or labels (which can all be accessed online).
