Seeking a sustainable alternative to plastic food wrapping? If so, Australia-based material science company Great Wrap has just what you are looking for.
Aiming to revolutionize how people preserve their food, Great Wrap developed a fully compostable food wrapping made from potato waste and other biopolymers.
According to Great Wrap, common bioplastics require intensive agriculture or industrial composting conditions. By using potato waste sourced from potato chip production, costs are reduced and a significant amount of waste material is repurposed instead of being tossed.
Jordy Kay and Julia Kay, the co-founders of Great Wrap, say they were inspired to create Great Wrap to realize a future where single-use plastics are no longer used and instead replaced with compostable bioplastic.
