Australian denim brand Outland Denim and Byron Bay-based fashion label Spell have joined forces for a ‘70s-inspired eco-friendly denim capsule collection.

The Spell x Outland Denim collection combines the former’s signature ‘70s aesthetic with the latter’s sustainable denim practices and ethical production.

The five items in the limited edition line were inspired by the free-wheeling ‘70s and Western Americana. Items include a pair of wide leg flare jeans, a maxi skirt with contrast trim, a pair of high-rise shorts, a Western button-up shirt, and lastly, a long-sleeve playsuit.

All pieces in the collection are 100% vegan, 100% traceable, and were made with 100% organic cotton. No harmful chemicals were used in the production process, one which also minimized water usage and energy consumption.

In fact, due to the sustainable and ethical production practices adopted by both brands, the collection resulted in 57% less water used and 31% less energy consumed during the finishing phase.

The Spell x Outland Denim capsule collection was created in Outland Denim’s Cambodian facilities. Outland actually uses these facilities to offer training and employment to young women who have experienced exploitation, in an effort to uplift the broader community.
