After Rose-Marie Swift, founder of RMS Beauty, experienced severe health issues, she uncovered how beauty products could have been a cause.
“In her healing process and intense research, she discovered that some of the toxic chemicals and heavy metals in her system were also found in today’s beauty products we use daily,” reads the about page on RMS Beauty’s website. “After rebuilding her own health, Rose-Marie realized she wanted to help other women claim their right to healthy, clean beauty and created the first of its kind, truly organic color cosmetic line, RMS Beauty.”
As a clean beauty company that cares about health above all, they source raw and organic ingredients to craft hypoallergenic products that are minimally processed. Equally as impressive, nutrients are preserved by using less heat in the production process.
Some may doubt the capabilities of natural makeup, but it should be noted that the colour in RMS’s makeup is very concentrated—a little goes a long way. RMS adds plenty of natural pigment to its makeup but thankfully leaves out the toxins.
Being free from silicone, parabens and other chemicals, the company uses coconut oil and rosemary extract to act as preservatives instead. Raw minerals are formulated with nutrient-dense ingredients like jojoba and buriti oil.The end result is high powered makeup that is preffered by makeup artists who use RMS products at photoshoots.
“The myth that natural beauty products ‘are not effective’ is slowly diminishing as natural brands are stepping up their formulas and innovation. The most difficult part used to be convincing people the beauty industry needs to be safer,” explained Swift. “No longer is that an idea that is dismissed. It is now a known fact, and I am proud that RMS Beauty continues to be a brand that is empowering.”
The company also practices sustainability by using recycled glass pots and boxes composed of 80% post-consumer recycled fibre made with 100% wind power.
