As Nike continues to push towards more eco-friendly means, the footwear giant has introduced an all-new sustainable Air Force 1 Crater for the ladies dressed in an ethereal “Summit White” colourway.
The release of this women’s exclusive silhouette follows in the heels of the Beaverton-mainstay’s “Space Hippie” collection, which introduced models made with scrap material gathered from Nike’s factory floors. The consciously-made Nike Air Force 1 Crater “Summit White” keeps the label’s ethos intact, seeing as the sneaker is constructed from at least 20 percent of recycled materials. Because of the use of reclaimed materials when creating the sneaker, each pair will be unique.
From a first glance, the upcoming Nike Air Force 1 Crater “Summit White” appears to be dressed in a timeless all-white outfit. However, a closer look at the basketball icon proves otherwise. Moving from the vamp to the heel, the women’s model features a colourless, classic palette, albeit the forefoot, which deviates from the shoe’s tonal makeup by sporting a semi-opaque, light blue canvas construction.
Lace dubraes and spines also boast non-standard builds to help elevate the overall look of this pair, with the latter donning a “Summit White” canvas. To further catch the eye of its potential wears and admiring onlookers, faint speckling appears throughout the toe, which has been created from a blend of reclaimed materials. All this is then complemented by exposed stitching found throughout.
Underfoot, the Space Hippie-esque midsole unit additionally wears the pair’s predominant hue but adds pronounced, multi-coloured Nike Grind rubber accents throughout. Reinforcing the 11% recycled Crater foam midsole are dark grey compositions found at the toe tip and rear. Helping to round off the design, the insoles arrive in yellow with “Nike Air” branding embellished in contrasting black.
Nike plans to release its women’s exclusive Air Force 1 Crater “Summit White” on October 1 for $110 USD/$146 CAD.
