London-based jewellery brand Missoma and British-American designer Harris Reed are teaming up on a new jewellery collection.

The Harris Reed x Missoma collection promises to be a celebration of “opulence and glamour” while simultaneously championing self-experience and self-expression. That is why in addition to being labelled a demi-fine and fine jewellery collection, it’s also a gender-fluid one.

Harris Reed x Missoma will be made up of 49 demi-fine pieces and 15 fine pieces, featuring rings, bracelets, earrings, and pendants.

The collection was conceived between Reed and Missoma founder Marisa Hordern during the COVID-19 lockdown. The pair took inspiration from the romantic and gothic aesthetic Reed’s designs are known for, while also incorporating his love of flea market finds and whimsical creations.

As such, the gender-fluid collection compromises heirloom pieces with gothic symbols like daggers, stars, crescent moons, serpents, and Georgian hands. Some pieces also took inspiration from the ornate ceiling of the London Opera House. Centred on acceptance and inclusivity, there is one piece, the dual-gender butterfly, that Reed and Hordern specifically created to represent the “journey to accepting the true version of yourself.”

Further, to bring the Harris Reed x Missoma collection to life, the designers chose to work with ethical and sustainable materials. For example, the demi-fine pieces were crafted out of recycled sterling silver, recycled 18k gold vermeil and gold plating, while the fine pieces consist of 14k solid recycled gold, blue sapphire, and conflict-free white and black diamonds.

This collection marks Reed’s first foray into jewellery, however, the designer is no stranger to non-binary designs, having made waves this past February when he debuted a six-piece gender-fluid collection at London Fashion Week.
