As the days grow shorter and the nights cooler, we know that summer’s end is near. But before we bid farewell to the sunny season, there’s one last chance to soak up the savings and elevate your summer style. Enter Miaou and their end-of-summer sale!

The Foundation

Miaou’s journey to sustainability is as intriguing as the unique pieces it creates. Founded by designer Alexia Elkaim in 2016, the brand began with a simple desire: to find the “perfect fit” pair of pants. Frustrated by the lack of options in the market, Elkaim decided to take matters into her own hands. Little did she know that this quest for the perfect fit would evolve into a sustainable fashion revolution.

Fashion with a Purpose

Miaou’s commitment to sustainability starts with the very fabric of its creations. The brand has a trio of core fabrics—denim, crepe, and mesh. What sets these materials apart is their sustainable origin. These fabrics are either made from biodegradable fibres or sourced locally as deadstock.

Deadstock fabrics are the unsung heroes of sustainability. They are the remnants of fabrics left unused by other fashion companies, destined for landfills. Miaou intercepts these fabrics, giving them a new life and purpose. By upcycling deadstock materials, the brand not only reduces waste but also conserves the resources that would have been used to create new fabrics.

But Miaou doesn’t stop there. The brand is dedicated to eliminating the need for the energy- and water-intensive washing process. Approximately 90% of their production is launder-free. By doing so, they minimize water and energy consumption, contributing to a greener fashion industry.

Ink and Impact

Miaou’s sustainable approach extends to its production methods. Digital printing is at the heart of their design process. This technology is inherently more eco-friendly than traditional analog alternatives. With digital printing, there is no ink or dye wasted, as everything is consumed in the printing process. This not only reduces waste but also eliminates the need for cleaning plates, blankets, or screens, which can have a detrimental impact on the environment.

The Eco-Friendly Package

Sustainability doesn’t end with the product; it extends to the packaging. Miaou recognizes this and takes eco-friendly packaging seriously. All their products are packaged in biodegradable eco-poly packaging and mailers. Furthermore, they use 100% recycled poly mailers, a significant step towards ending the use of environmentally harmful materials in packaging.

1% for the Planet

Miaou’s commitment to the environment goes beyond its production processes and materials. The brand is an active member of “1% for the Planet.” They contribute at least one percent of their annual sales to support environmental organizations dedicated to preserving our planet. It’s a tangible commitment to making a difference.
