Founded by Natasha Fernandes Anjo, Roop is an eco-conscious label that features a lauded line up of handmade carryalls, all created from remnant vintage fabrics.
On Instagram, Roop’s Furoshiki Bags have been showing up all over everyone’s feed. Made and designed by Anjo herself, the distinguishable fabric carryalls have perpetually been selling out.
The furoshiki bag draws inspiration from Japanese culture, and more specifically the square-shaped wrapping cloths traditionally used in the East Asian country to carry clothes, gifts, food, and other items. Also noteworthy, each bag features four signature knots and an elasticated scrunchie strap; two designs that Anjo has effortlessly turned into her signature elements.
Each one of Roop’s arm candy bags is crafted from deadstock, leftover, vintage, and discarded fabrics. The only “new” additions to the bags are the magnetic clasps and elastic.
Anjo has been releasing the bags, each given a unique and cute name, in limited runs to ensure there is no excess waste. And unsurprisingly, the bags have been flying off the shelves. In addition to bags, Anjo creates and sells scrunchies. With the rise of COVID-19, they have also begun selling face masks.
You can try your luck at purchasing your very own Roop bag via its online shop, or at select stockiest such as luxury giant Selfridges.
