American brand Levi’s has teamed up with tennis superstar and mental health advocate Naomi Osaka on a fashion line.
Together, they are creating a line of upcycled denim pieces out of Levi’s old stock, recycling and repurposing denim items no longer in use by the brand. The four-piece limited edition Levi’s x Naomi Osaka collection is set to launch next week.
This marks the second collaboration between the American denim brand and Osaka, who first joined forces this past spring when Osaka appeared in Levi’s campaign for its iconic 501 jeans style.
The Levi’s x Naomi Osaka collaboration is said to be the perfect combination of sporty and feminine, while incorporating aspects of Osaka’s Japanese heritage. For example, one of the pieces is a denim kimono with matching obi belt. (According to Osaka, she always used to wear kimonos as a child.)
The other three pieces have been confirmed as a trucker jacket bustier, two styles of denim shorts, and a pair of low-rise jeans. The bustier was created by cutting and reshaping a Levi’s denim trucker jacket and giving it a corset-style bustier and a lace-up back.
