Sustainability is much more than a buzzword these days. As the beauty world continues to find new ways of appealing to its make-up obsessed customers but without putting the environment at risk, La Bouche Rouge is aiming to marry sustainability with luxury makeup.
Since its launch in 2017, La Bouche Rouge has been putting its sustainability initiatives into action. Largely recognized as the “first luxury sustainable makeup brand”, the cruelty-free and vegan label is now expanding upon its lauded line of refillable lipsticks and lip balms to include a full collection of beauty products such as highlighters, eyeshadows, and much, much more that is both sustainable and recyclable.
La Bouche Rouge will be the first maison de maquillage to introduce a complete makeup routine without the use of any microplastics, parabens, silicones, mineral oils, and animal fats; the brand even removed beeswax from its formula earlier this year. Joining La Bouche Rouge’s original line of recyclable lip products is Le Sérum Noir, a mascara that comes packaged in a container made of 100% recycled glass. Even the applicator avoids the use of microplastics and has been created from castor bean oil. As a bonus, the applicator’s shape helps to add thickness and volume to the lashes.
Next up, the Le Khôl Noir eyeliner is made from a 98% natural and clean formula that contains castor oil, squalane, and Vitamin E as ingredients. The eyeliner is housed in a beautiful recyclable metal case. The eye makeup range continues with a set of eyebrow essentials, Le Crayon à Sourcil, an eyebrow pencil, and Le Sérum Sourcil, a brow serum.
The infinitely refillable metal Universal Compact case can be used to hold a range of La Bouche Rouge products from bronzer, highlighters, and eyeshadows. Refillable powders for the container include the La Terre bronzing powder, La Lumière highlighter, and Les Ombres eyeshadows. The case is composed of 100 percent recyclable metal alloy and dressed in upcycled vegetable-tanned leather from French company Tanneries du Puy. Additionally, the lipstick, mascara, and compact are housed in four different coloured leathers such as “Red,” “Chocolate,” “Camel,” and “Black”. For an added personal touch, the compact can be personalized with your initials.
La Bouche Rouge’s debut refillable, recyclable, and eco-friendly makeup is part of its Fall/Winter 2020 collection. For those looking to reduce their plastic consumption, the products will arrive in-store and online at the end of August.
