At KÖNIG GALERIE’s St. Agnes, Guadalajara-based artist Jose Dávila has presented a collection of new works as part of an exhibition titled The Moment of Suspension. The exhibition is Dávila’s third solo with KÖNIG GALERIE.
With a focus on interdisciplinary, concept-oriented and space-based media such as sculpture, video, sound, painting, printmaking, photography and performance, KÖNIG GALERIE is an art gallery founded by Johann König that represents a total of 40 international artists. Constructed in the 1960s, St. Agnes is a former church with Brutalist architecture that is now occupied by KÖNIG GALERIE.
The Moment of Suspension is composed of pieces that are made from materials and objects such as basalt stone, volcanic rock, limestone, concrete, belts, etc.
“Intimating utopian ideals, uncut rock and sculpted concrete are brought into uneasy congruence, realizing an equilibrium that holds differently weighted materials in place,” said KÖNIG GALERIE.
