The book features 321 photographs selected from a whopping 85,041 which the designer had been taking with his iPhones since 2010. IMAGES follows Jacquemus’ first edition titled MARSEILLE JE T’AIME with the engraved numbers on the spine of both books suggesting a whole series in the making.
Published in 2017 at the OpenMyMed festival, MARSEILLE JE T’AIME was an homage to Jacquemus’ favourite places on earth – Marseille and the French seaside. Jacquemus has always spoken about his love for the South of France, and how he draws inspiration from the lifestyle that accompanies summer in Provence.
IMAGES is a little different, however. The book isn’t inspired by a certain place or time, rather it is a collection of carefully chosen photographs taken by the acclaimed designer. It shows life through Jacquemus’ lens and how he perceives the world.
The photos are enticing, raw and unfiltered, accurately reflecting the aesthetics of Jacquemus. Two nude figures embrace under an umbrella at the beach, a corridor of a French home, playing with shadows, food, plenty of sunsets, fields, fruits, and flowers – the book shows the simple pleasures of life.
