Commissioned by contemporary fashion brand COS and created by New York-based practice Snarkitecture, Loop is an interactive installation based on “the childhood memory of marble games”.

Featuring four 100m light blue aluminum tracks that are suspended from the ceiling of Gana Art Gallery in Seoul, South Korea, a glass marble is released every five seconds onto a random track to bring the installation to life.

As the glass marbles travel, its journey ends in an adjoining room to collect.

“Children and play inspire our work,” said Snarkitecture “The way that children interact with our physical and architectural surroundings is completely different to adults.”

“Our intention was to create a contemplative environment with Loop – a space that was not immediately understood upon entering,” said Snarkitecture co-founder Daniel Arsham “While we wanted the design to be playful, we were mindful of creating a work that provided an escape. It was important to offer a setting and feeling that were completely new and inspiring to visitors.”

“In conceiving this project, our third with COS, we wanted to offer visitors an experience that combines the values and sensibility of the brand with our perspective and approach,” said Snarkitecture co-founder Alex Mustonen.

“It is a legacy we are developing together and we hope the project offers visitors an interactive and memorable experience,” added Mustonen.
