Rather than offering a generous discount for Black Friday, sustainable fashion brand Everlane is instead raising funds to help farmers in the U.S. transition their farmland to regenerative organic.

For every purchase, both in-store and online, Everlane will donate $15 which is said to be enough to transition one acre of land. The ultimate goal for the San Francisco-based brand is to raise $200K and transition a total of 13,333 acres (roughly 20 square miles).

According to Everlane, only 1% of U.S. farmland is certified organic. Environmentalist and author Paul Hawken says that if we implement regenerative agricultural practices on a quarter of the globe’s farms and grasslands, 55 billion tons of greenhouse gases can be absorbed from the atmosphere in 30 years.

In order to realize this transition to regenerative organic farming, Everlane partnered with the Rodale Institute, a non-profit dedicated to organic agriculture via research, farmer training and consumer education.
